How Excess Weight Can Contribute to Hair Loss

hair

There is definitely some truth that baldness is caused by hereditary factors, but this is not always the case. Being overweight or obese can also cause one to lose hair, particularly for women.

It has been known for quite some time that hair loss is caused by hormonal problems. For men, hormonal problems (particularly with testosterone) can lead to balding. However constant stress or excess fat can also wreak havoc hormonally and have the same effect.

Every hormone present in the body plays a specific role.  The relationship between a cell and the body’s hormones could be compared to an organization in that the cells of the body would be the “employees” and the hormones would be the “managers”. In other words, hormones instruct the cells on what to do.

The miracle pills for weight loss

miracle_pills

While reading the paper one day, I found out that the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) had fined various companies due to misleading advertisements for weight loss products. Some of the products targeted includedTrimSpa®, CortiSlim®, Xenadrine EFX® and One-A-Day® (by Bayer). Bayer ended up paying the highest fine (3.2 million).

The FTC came down hard on these particular brands because every one of them had been advertised as a natural supplement that would boost your metabolism and suppress your appetite without any effort on your part. In other words, they were promoted as “miracle” pills that could still help you lose weight without having to eat healthy or exercise.

The compulsion to lose weight

compulsion

It has been estimated that at any time of the year, about 38% of the US population are on some sort of diet or exercising program trying to lose weight. The sad thing is that nearly 95% of them end up abandoning their efforts, and for the few that are successful, even fewer have success in maintaining it.

Meanwhile, we are bombarded daily with advertisements and other media using models reflecting how we “should look”. It seems as if great part of what we see on television and in the press indicates that we are all overweight.

From my experience, most people who start on a diet fail only because they have the wrong goal of “losing weight”. The fact of the matter is, it isn’t that we have too much weight – it’s that we have too much FAT. There is a difference.

The benefits of organic coconut oil

coconut

In 1985, a national campaign against saturated fats was heavily promoted. As coconut oil is a saturated fat, it was also said to be “unhealthy” and the public was encouraged to eliminate it completely. Instead, soybean oil was promoted as a healthier alternative.

About 20 years later, the truth was finally revealed. Although coconut oil is a saturated fat, it was not the same as other saturated fats, like lard. Coconut oil in particular is composed of medium chain triglycerides, which is extremely beneficial for one’s health and the metabolism.

If you’re looking to lose weight, there are quite a few natural substances that can definitely help, organic coconut oil being one of these. For one, it acts as a natural fungicide (kills fungi), bactericidal (kills bacteria) and even reduces infections related to herpes. Overall, it helps detoxify the body and will do wonders for the skin.

Alcohol Is Not Fattening, But…

alcohol

Holidays and celebrations are there to be enjoyed, but it can also be quite a challenge to start or maintain a healthy lifestyle during these times.

Alcohol seems to go hand in hand with most celebrations and believe it or not,it isn’t technically fattening, like sugar would be. The vast majority of alcoholics are skinny. However, alcohol will still get in the way of weight loss.

When you drink alcohol, the lipase enzyme is destroyed. This enzyme is responsible for breaking down the fat in your body. Without it, it is impossible to lose weight. The effects of alcohol remain in the body for at least 24 hours, meaning, your body will be unable to burn any fat during that time.

Skinny people with high blood pressure hypertension

blood_preasure

The human body is designed to SURVIVE. It has been seen time and time again that a body can endure quite a bit of abuse before it starts to manifest symptoms of decreased health.

It isn’t uncommon for an overweight body to experience quite a few health problems, such as high blood pressure. The three primary causes of high blood pressure include excess body fat, constant stress and structural damage to the arteries and capillaries.

When a body is overweight or obese, the excess fat itself becomes a physical obstacle for the body. More specifically, the passages (such as arteries and capillaries) of the body are crowded by fat, making these passages very narrow. This then forces the body to increase blood pressure so as to ensure that oxygen and nutrients are able to reach all parts of the body, especially those affected by stress.

Relationship problems make you fat

relasionship

Some believe that consuming too much food is the only reason why people become overweight or obese. However, this couldn’t be farther from the truth. There are several factors that can contribute to weight gain or difficulties losing weight. One of these factors includes stress, and for some, this is in the form of a bad relationship or marital problems.

The reality is, the body is very easily affected by the mind. When we experience a stressful situation, it is mostly felt within the mind, but can still affect the condition of the body. When it comes to stress, the body will respond accordingly by producing a hormone called cortisol. This hormone will not only make the body accumulate fat, but will also cause hunger (especially for refined carbohydrates, like bread, candy, cookies, etc). Typically, the fat produced by stress is accumulated in the abdomen and hips.

Overweight, cause of hormonal problems

How Being Overweight Can Cause Hormonal Problems

overweight

There is nothing more powerful within the body than the hormones produced by various glands. These hormones are so powerful that they can even change body structure and function.

It has been discovered that being overweight or obese can lead to hormonal problems that can affect the body in various ways.

One of the factors that can contribute to hormonal problems is excess fat in the body. As you may already know, a woman’s body naturally produces a hormone called estrogen in the ovaries. This hormone is what makes up the feminine characteristics of a woman. Male bodies, on the other hand, produce testosterone, a male hormone, in their testicles.

Our daily bread

bread

If you want to lose weight, reducing your intake of refined carbohydrates(bread, pasta, cookies, soda, etc.)will be vital. Refined carbohydrates are easily converted into glucose (blood sugar) in the body, which can then turn into fat with the help of insulin, a hormone that our body produces. Interestingly enough, many people find it nearly impossible to reduce their consumption of these types of food and consider it their biggest obstacle when it comes to losing weight.

After 12+ years of helping thousands of people recover their metabolism and lose weight, I’ve learned to recognize a variety of metabolism-related problems, one of which are food intolerances. Most people know what a food allergy is merely due to the fact that the symptoms are pretty obvious. Allergies can cause pretty immediate reactions, such as headaches, itching, loss of breath, mucus, indigestion and inflammation. For some, consuming seafood or peanuts can cause life-threatening allergic reactions.

Losing Weight After the Holidays, Vacation or Celebrations

holiday

Holidays, vacations and celebrations can take a toll on our figure. When all is said and done, we’re left with those extra, unwanted pounds, our pants acting as a constant reminder that we’ve got some work to do.

When it comes to weight loss, there’s no limit to the number of excuses we tell ourselves to wait or not do anything about it at all.Have you ever found yourself saying or thinking, “My husband/wife loves me the way I am, so why change?”,“I’ll start my diet on Monday” or “I don’t have the time”? I suppose the real question is, who hasn’t?

The real test, however, is how you feel when you look at yourself in the mirror or how you feel in your clothing. Do you truly like what you see? Do you feel confident? Or are you uncomfortable in your own skin?

This Fungus Infection Will Cause Weight Gain

fungas

It is common to associate being overweight or obese with overeating. However, this is not always the case, as there are actually many overweight and obese people who eat very little and still cannot lose weight. And, of course, there are also those who can eat whatever they want and never gain weight.

One of the primary reasons why so many overweight and obese people find it hard to lose weight is due to the fact that their bodies are full of the candida albicansfungus. Even when they follow a healthy diet and start exercising, the weight either comes off very slowly or not at all. Needless to say, they eventually become discouraged and stop trying.

Difficulties losing weight after pregnancy

pregnincyDifficulties losing weight after pregnancy

Over the last 10 years or so, the majority of those seeking assistance with weight loss have been women, many of which start to experience difficulty after being pregnant.

It isn’t uncommon for a woman to have difficulty losing weight after pregnancy. In fact, the vast majority find themselves forced to purchase larger sizes than what they wore pre-pregnancy, only a few of which actually return to their previous size.

In short, the metabolism can become noticeably slower for many women post pregnancy. But why is this?

For many women, cravings are part and parcel to pregnancy. Pregnant women will find themselves experiencing strong cravings for foods like chocolate, cookies, chips, bread, ice cream and an array of other refined carbohydrates.

Diet sodas make you fat

soda

The truth is, if you want to lose weight, your first and primary step will be drinking plenty of water. Water significantly raises the metabolism. But how so?

As you may have already learned in school, a water (H2O) molecule consists of 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom), the oxygen portion being nearly 8 times larger than the entire molecular mass of both hydrogen atoms. In other words, water is composed of 89% oxygen and only 11% hydrogen. Visually, a water molecule looks somewhat like Mickey Mouse®, the two hydrogen atoms being the ears of Mickey.

Oxygen is the primary element that drives the metabolism and allows for the burning of fat, thus making the consumption of water a vital water an effective way of increasing the metabolism and losing weight.

Cob Obesity

Corn – High Fructose Corn Syrup

corn

Obesity has grown to become quite an epidemic and its growth seems to continue despite attempts to address it. The saddest part is that children have also become part of this statistic.

There are various factors that have been contributing to this obesity epidemic. One is the heavy use of a sweetener called High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS), which is used todaymore than any other type of sugar.

In the 1970s, the sugar produced from sugar cane and beets became expensive. It was around that time that Japanese researchers developed a way to extract sugar (as fructose) from cornstarch by using a chemical-ridden process of fermentation. Although this process took a long time, the cost was significantly less. Soon after, most foods and drinks began using High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) instead. In fact, if you read the labels of food, you’ll likely find that this sweetener is used in nearly all prepared foods.
